A good friend of mine sent me yesterday a document signed by a certain medical doctor in which it was possible to read (not very well because it seems that the lady does not know how to write correctly), that natural therapies were pseudosciences, that pseudoscience meant "false science ", and that they should be prohibited since there has been some case of cancer patient who has abandoned chemotherapy to treat himself naturally and has died.
The lady also said that some two million Spaniards went to natural therapists, and that almost everyone who was asked answered that at some time in their life they had gone to a natural therapist. He also claimed that this was because the doctors did not have much time with each patient.
The woman explained that the only science that existed was science (I imagine it refers to medical, technological, social, natural science). Because we all know that there are also social sciences, natural sciences, etc. I imagine the doctor went to school.
In addition, it emphasized that patients were helpless before natural therapists because they had no rights, and that there had been cases in which the justice had agreed with natural therapists and not their patients.

The truth is, I have always defended the rights of Healers Therapists , I am stupid that there are people who think they are in a position to tell others what is correct or not correct. Each one is free (I say), to choose the treatment they want, and if it does not agree with medicine or medical science, then it seems very good. First . I can say that pseudoscience does not mean "false science" , but it is a term that modern science has chosen to designate those sciences that it does not accept, since modern science only studies the "natural", the physical and the technological. I don't know who has given modern science the right to say what is science and what is not science
, as if they were gods who know everything. That modern science does not accept any method of study or research because they themselves "get out of hand" does not mean that it is false but that they are not qualified to investigate it. Likewise, why should they be the ones to decide what is natural? or that the only natural thing is the physical.
Second . "Science" means (more or less), any technique and method of study that is based on research, observation, verification, etc., to obtain knowledge, and that based on previous knowledge. Any serious research can be considered scientific even if it does not investigate technology or physics.

Third. To my knowledge, no one has died from being treated with infusions or the laying on of the hands of a healer . For a cancer patient to die is because they had cancer and not because of something else . Wake up! You are not God and we all die of one thing or another, sooner or later, you too. And when scientific medicine or medical science tells you "we can do nothing more for you", then you will go to an unconventional therapist, a pseudoscientist as you call it, or not? waiting to die because medical science "condemns her to death." You tell me about "some case" of a patient with cancer, who you yourself say did not want to be treated with chemotherapy.
Accept the man's decision to die as he wanted and swallow his vanity and pride.
Because where were you when the 110,000 cancer patients in Spain died in just this last year, and that most (if not all) were treated by medical science. Is it your fault that those patients died or died of cancer? What did the forensic record say that medical science killed them? I do not believe it.

Modern medicine will be about 70 years old and has been based on what you call "pseudosciences" to establish itself, that is, that the basis of modern medicine is traditional medicine, popular medicine. So, when your grandmother or perhaps mother, (you are also a Canarian like me, and we are more or less the same age), put some eucalyptus compresses on your chest, she applied some vinegar and salt creams to the sprain of ankle, I gave her that "agüita" (infusion), of sage or orchard grass in the morning, and massaged her belly with oil (whatever there was because we were poor), because she was treating her with natural therapies, with a pseudoscience. Thanks to these homemade natural therapies and to that popular "pseudoscience" you are right there right now, well placed, writing nonsense without any foundation, without rigor and without science.

Fifth. "That scientific medicine does NOT have time with patients." Listen to yourself. Well, are they doing something wrong or not? How many people die waiting for surgical interventions? Who kills those people? Scientific medicine? Why does it not dare to say that scientific medicine receives around 15,000 complaints a year for negligence, and that around 1,000 people die from such medical negligence in Spain alone? We are not talking about one person who has died of cancer while being treated with natural therapies, but about thousands who die while being treated by scientific medicine.
Sixth. That science only studies the physical, because it is time to start studying the "non-physical" because if you believe that we are only animals with clothes that do not have feelings, emotions, thoughts, soul (that if they study and treat Natural Healers), then, you do not practice medicine but pure veterinary medicine.
Also, I don't see anything physical in psychiatric or psychological studies but if you believe that psychiatry and psychology are also pseudosciences then you should start sweeping in front of your own house first.

Seventh. Ma'am, listen, if justice agrees with the natural therapist, well it will be for something, or have you wanted to say without realizing it (perhaps it escaped you), that justice is unfair. Are you messing not only with natural therapists but also with justice? In any case, I have always stressed the importance of well-trained Healing Therapists, with their very clear rules of conduct, ethics and morals, which always include not making medical diagnoses or prescribing medicines, not prohibiting medicines or any medical treatment. In this way the healing-medical tandem would be possible, and everyone is so happy.
In addition, I can show (I have been doing it for 30 years) that what you call pseudoscience is also science, although it is too big for modern medicine. Anytime, ... and Merry Christmas.
